Dear Bialik Community Members,
I am writing to you to update you on the steps Bialik is taking to address our community’s growing needs for Jewish education.
Bialik has long been the Jewish day school of choice for many families who seek academic excellence, innovation and Jewish values for their children’s education. Our enrolment applications have been growing, we have had lengthy waitlists, and many families have been disappointed not to be able to secure a spot at Bialik. Since October 7 and in the current climate of Antisemitism, there has been an upward trend in applications throughout the GTA and this has resulted in ever greater numbers of applications at all day schools, and even longer waitlists at our school.
Bialik recognizes that it has an important role to play in educating our children, developing their Jewish identities, and helping keep our community strong — and we don’t take this responsibility lightly. We are proud to step up to meet our community’s increased needs at this time, and to do so while maintaining our exemplary standards of education.
We have set our school on a growth path starting with next year’s JK cohort.
Plans for 2025-26
Many of you will already know that for the coming 2025-26 school year, we will be opening an additional, sixth, JK class. All our JK classes will be accommodated in our Viewmount building, where we will reallocate spaces, as we have done several times in the past, to ensure a warm and stimulating environment for all students. Our JK classes will be capped at a maximum of 22 students and there will continue to be a teacher and a teacher’s assistant in each classroom, ensuring our students’ needs are met.
Plans for 2026-27 and Beyond
In 2026-27, our school will grow again, as we continue to enrol six JK classes, with Kindergarten class sizes again capped at a maximum of 22 students. As additional JK classes are added each year, our Viewmount Branch enrolment will grow substantially, thereby meeting the increased demand for Jewish education in our community.
We have exciting news to share about how we plan to provide educational facilities for JKs in the long term. Beginning in 2026-27, all JK students will be located in beautiful, newly renovated facilities nearby at Holy Blossom Temple, 1950 Bathurst Street. Bialik will be renting space that will be refurbished and upgraded to meet our standards thanks to our collaboration with Holy Blossom and the support of the UJA Federation. We foresee that “Viewmount South” will accommodate future cohorts of JK families for years to come. We will ensure that our teachers are well supported administratively and educationally in the new location and that every student can develop a sense of community in this learning environment.
This is a bold move for Bialik and a substantial change for our current and future families, so we wanted to share this news with you well in advance. Families will no doubt have questions about what the school experience will be like at Viewmount South and how they will be supported by the school at the new location.
To take you on the journey with us, and especially to inform those families who have applied for JK admission in 2026-27 and beyond, we will be holding a Zoomformation session on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at 7:30 p.m. The Zoom link will be sent to registered attendees the day of the Zoomformation. In the meanwhile, we encourage you to read our FAQ.

We are proud to be stepping up to meet our community’s needs, and committed to making this a smooth transition to our new JK facilities.
Sincerely,
