We are currently seeking a creative, highly motivated and experienced Director of Marketing and Communications

Reporting to the Head of School, this individual will:

  • Manage and direct all of the school’s marketing and communication initiatives
  • Ensure that all marketing & communication is aligned with established brand identity and messaging and supports the goals of the school
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive annual marketing & communications plan
  • Manage all marketing & communication projects ensuring they are completed on time and within budget
  • Be a member of the advancement team, anticipating, identifying and supporting marketing & communication requirements related to admissions and development
  • Direct and manage the activities of various sub contracted service providers (e.g. writers, designers, social media/web specialists, photographers); source and engage such providers where necessary
  • Ensure that the website and other online properties are up to date and support marketing and branding goals
  • Manage the school’s social media activity, ensuring that the optimal platforms are used and that the frequency and content of posts advance the school’s marketing & communication goals; monitor all school social media channels and respond appropriately where necessary
  • Manage the development, preparation, production and distribution of school-parent communication including e-newsletters, reports and e-communication as well as all admissions and development collateral and related publications
  • Where necessary, source, research, write and edit content/copy for communications and marketing initiatives
  • Identify and leverage opportunities for media coverage; write and submit media releases; pitch story ideas to print and online publications including Jewish, local, national and international outlets

The successful will candidate will have:

  • Well-honed and proven project management skills high
  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Established proficiency in the use of technology including web-based and online marketing, content-management and analytic tools
  • The ability to work independently with excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience working in nonprofit organizations, ideally in a school/educational setting and familiarity with the Toronto Jewish community
  • 5 years or more experience working directly in marketing, communications or public relations
  • A university degree in marketing, communications, journalism or a related field
