Communications Officer

Bialik Hebrew Day School is a thriving Jewish day school educating over 1,300 students at two branches in the GTA. Bialik’s success has been built on a program that blends a uniquely relevant Jewish mission with academic excellence.

Bialik seeks a creative, energetic Communications Officer, with a love of storytelling, experience in social media and in email marketing.

Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications, and as a member of the dynamic Advancement team, the Communications Officer will be a communications generalist who is flexible and able to work collaboratively in the current evolving environment. The Communications Officer will assist in implementing Bialik’s marketing and communications strategies, including the promotion of the school’s development and admissions programs, effectively conveying the school’s brand to internal and external audiences.

This role is a one-year contract position.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the MARCOM team to implement Bialik’s communications strategies and plans
  • Write, create and distribute email marketing and event materials
  • Tell the school’s stories by creating and posting relevant online content for social media
  • Take photos and short videos at daily school events and do basic editing
  • Manage photo and video shoots
  • Draft copy for marketing materials
  • Produce the weekly school newsletters and other periodic newsletters

 Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Communications or related field
  • 3 – 5 years’ experience in marketing and communications or related field

Skills and Experience

  • Proven writing, editing and proofreading skills
  • Experience using email marketing systems such as Constant Contact
  • Experience using Canva or other graphics software
  • Demonstrated ability to use social media channels effectively
  • Experience taking photos and videos, and using editing software
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage time effectively
  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude
  • Ability to work well as a member of the team

Advancement Events Coordinator

Bialik seeks a skilled and organized Advancement Events Coordinator who will advance the school’s mission and brand, working as part of the Admissions and Development teams to coordinate, plan and organize the school’s Advancement events.

The Advancement Events Coordinator will assist with the running of various types of events, both online and offline at our branches in midtown and in Vaughan.

This position is half-time.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and organize events, in collaboration with members of the Admissions, Development and Marketing and Communications teams
  • Work with the IT Department to support online events
  • Research and book appropriate venues
  • Look for, compare and negotiate with different vendors (e.g. catering and promotional items)
  • Source promotional items and assemble goody bags and giveaways
  • Handle and coordinate all event operations
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues on an ongoing basis
  • Offer solutions to resolve problems in a timely manner

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • 2-3 years of experience in a similar role
  • Sense of ownership and pride in work
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • A transparent and collaborative team player
  • Excellent time-management and organizational skills

Admissions Data Entry Coordinator

Bialik Hebrew Day School is a thriving Jewish day school educating over 1,300 students at two branches in the GTA. Bialik’s success has been built on a program that blends a uniquely relevant Jewish mission with academic excellence.

Bialik seeks a skilled and highly organized Admission Data Entry Coordinator to become part of the Admissions team. The Admissions Data Entry Coordinator will ensure the accurate gathering and entry of data and liaising with families regarding their application information.

This position is half-time, with somewhat flexible working hours.

Responsibilities

  • Gathering and entering Admissions data using the school’s systems
  • Entering payments into the school’s systems
  • Following up with parents regarding payments as required
  • Assisting with Tuition Support applications to ensure they are complete; connecting with parents for required documentation
  • Ensuring accuracy and integrity of data
  • Drawing reports as required
  • Liaising with families to obtain and update application information as required

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Previous experience in data coordination
  • Proficiency and experience in using databases, and ability to learn new systems
  • Strong oral and written communications skills
  • Ability to work accurately within tight deadlines
  • Strong sense of integrity in working with confidential data

Elementary Division Gym Teacher

Bialik seeks a dynamic and passionate educator to join our exemplary General Studies teaching faculty. We currently have an opening for a full-time Elementary Division Gym teacher located at our Himel Branch in Vaughan.
