School Social Worker

Bialik seeks a full-time School Social Worker at its Himel Branch, located in Vaughan.

Responsibilities

  • Work with students to maintain healthy relationships with peers, develop personal resilience and emotional wellness.
  • Provide individual and group counselling to students to address ongoing mental health issues (with a strong focus on anxiety support), behavioural issues, as well as personal and family matters. 
  • Consult and collaborate with parents to share parenting strategies.
  • Develop school-wide programs that promote student wellness and pro-social behaviours within the school community.
  • Work in collaboration with all stakeholders to develop and implement behavioural and coping strategies to set individual children up for success in their classrooms. 
  • As part of the school’s support team, contribute observations and recommendations regarding students’ social and emotional development and mental health. 
  • Coordinate and facilitate student leadership and mental health programs. 

Preference will be given to candidates with:

  • Masters degree in social work (MSW), psychology, education or equivalent
  • Counselling experience working with children and adolescents in mental health settings
  • Experience working in a school environment

Vice Principal, Himel West

Bialik seeks a Vice Principal to be located at our Himel Branch in Vaughan.

The Vice Principal will support and work in collaboration with the Principal in the educational and administrative management of the Himel West facility, creating an environment in which our JK to Grade 3 students can thrive socially, emotionally, and academically. The Vice Principal will play a leadership role in promoting our mission and values, ensuring the smooth running of the school, supporting the success of our students, and providing support and supervision to faculty. 

Requirements for the position include:

  • Ontario Teaching Certificate or its equivalent
  • Successful experience as a classroom teacher
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work collaboratively with students, staff and parents
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of current best practices in education, such as differentiated instruction, 21st century skills, classroom technology applications, classroom management.
  • Knowledge of Jewish customs and traditions

Preference will be given to candidates with:

  • Principal’s certification
  • Master’s degree in education or related field
  • Experience in school administration
  • Experience in staff supervision and curriculum development
  • Knowledge of Hebrew

General & Jewish Studies Classroom Teachers and Assistants

Bialik seeks dynamic and passionate educators to join our exemplary Jewish and General Studies faculty for the 2022-23 school year. We have openings for JK  – Grade 8 classroom teachers and assistants. Positions are located at both our Vaughan and midtown Toronto Branches.

Qualifications

Teachers:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education 
  • OCT certification

Assistants:

  • OCT or ECE are preferred but are not required.
