Bialik Hebrew Day School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Jewish Studies teacher for a part-time (60%) position. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Ivrit and Tanach Shiluv to Grades 6-8.
Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and interactive lessons in Hebrew Language
- Develop and implement curriculum
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters student learning and growth.
- Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to enhance the Jewish Studies program.
Classroom Management
- Create a positive, safe classroom environment that promotes respect and cooperation
- Implement effective and developmentally appropriate classroom management strategies to maintain a productive learning atmosphere
- Manage classroom behaviour in accordance with school policies
Communication and Collaboration
- Maintain open and effective communication with students, parents, and fellow teachers and administration
- Participate in Parent Teacher Conferences and school meetings
Skills and Experience
- A teaching certificate from Israel or Ontario is recommended
- Fluency in Hebrew is essential
- Strong knowledge of teaching Ivrit and an understanding of second language acquisition
- Experience teaching Hebrew Language and Tanach resource/shiluv is preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners
- A passion for Jewish education and a commitment to fostering a love of learning in students
