Known as the “Jewish day school for today’s generation,” Bialik is proud to offer a top-quality General and Jewish Studies education to more than 1,500 students at its Viewmount Branch in midtown-Toronto and its Himel Branch located on the Vaughan Jewish Community Campus.

The Viewmount Branch
Opened in 1961 as the original Bialik Jewish Day School and located at Bathurst and Eglinton, Toronto, the Viewmount Branch serves the large midtown Jewish community. Admission is highly sought-after by the many families seeking a Bialik education for their children. The Viewmount facilities are outstanding, and now accommodate more than 950 students. A hallmark feature of the branch is the beautiful, glass-filled STEM Learning Commons, including a greenhouse, where students can engage in hands-on learning and develop their design thinking skills.
The Opportunity
Bialik has an exceptional opportunity for a passionate, visionary educational leader with exemplary skills as a hands-on administrator, community leader, planner and faculty/staff mentor. The Principal is responsible and accountable for all aspects of the functioning of the Viewmount Branch. This includes:
- Creating a positive school culture – a sense of pride and belonging – among all Bialik stakeholders.
- Supervising the Branch staff, including vice principals, teachers, teaching assistants, social workers, office staff, security staff, etc.
- Supporting the Head of School, and working with the Administrative Team to ensure consistency of programming across both Bialik Branches.
- Liaising with the Parent Association (PA) to ensure the smooth and efficient running of all PA programs.
- Ensuring a safe and security working and learning environment for all members of the Bialik community.
- Ensuring high standards of behaviour for all students and staff.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experiences:
- A proven track record as an educational leader and administrator
- Demonstrated ability to manage a large and complex organization in a multi-stakeholder environment
- Ability to communicate and articulate vision, mission, values and ideas in a charismatic, consensus building, persuasive manner to all constituencies
- Ability to see the “big picture” and maintain a strategic overview in addressing problems and planning solutions in a results-oriented manner
- Ability to promote and foster educational excellence, including raising the standards and value of Jewish and General Studies programming and enhancing teachers’ performance
- An open and collaborative management and leadership style
- Strong supervisory and evaluation skills
- Excellent people skills, with a warm, honest and fair approach in dealing with others
- Ability to interact and engage comfortably with a wide variety of key constituents including Board Members, parents, students, major donors and community leaders
- Knowledge of, and personal commitment to, the State of Israel as well as Jewish ideals, values, history, ritual and practice
- Hebrew language skills are considered an asset
