Bialik is pleased to introduce a new administrative position for the 2025-26 school year — Dean
of Student Services, Viewmount Branch.
Job Summary
Reporting to the Director of Student Services, this position will be crucial in ensuring the holistic development, well-being and academic success of our students. The Dean of Student Services is responsible for ensuring the school delivers educational services that best serve students with exceptionalities, including those with learning disabilities, particular academic strengths, those with medical needs, and/or who are English Language Learners.
Key Responsibilities
The Dean of Student Services will work closely with Branch and teaching-and-learning administrators, the School Social Worker/s, Resource and classroom teachers, and external service providers. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in special education and school leadership as outlined below:
Resource Management and Student Support Oversight
● Collaborate with the Dean of Student Services, Himel Branch to ensure alignment across locations
● Supervise and support the Branch Resource team to ensure best practices in intervention and accommodations
● Manage the school’s IEP program, ensuring plans are developed, maintained and regularly updated to meet the needs of the students learning profile
● Implement psychoeducational assessment recommendations in line with school policies and Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles
● Develop and oversee Growth Plans, Behavioural Plans and other support strategies
● Liaise with high schools for accurate transfer of academic and support-related information
● Participate in intake interviews for incoming students requiring additional support
● Oversee prospective student academic screeners
Academic Support, UDL Implementation and Differentiation
● Support classroom teachers in implementing UDL principles including multiple means of representation, engagement, and expression
● Ensure effective implementation of Response to Intervention (RTI) strategies
● Monitor student progress and adjust intervention strategies accordingly
● Support classroom teachers in developing learning extensions for students requiring additional challenges
Social-Emotional & Behavioural Support
● Oversee behavioural intervention plans and provide classroom management support
● Work with external professionals to address student mental health needs
Collaboration, Leadership & Professional Development
● Oversee Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) for Resource and classroom teachers
● Train staff on assistive technology tools and accessibility supports
● Lead PD sessions on UDL, differentiation, inclusive teaching strategies, and SEL
● Mentor, coach, and evaluate Resource teachers
● Act as a point of contact for parents regarding individual student concerns following initial conversations with resource teachers
● Support the effective implementation of accommodations and strategies
Administrative Responsibilities
● Lead student support meetings, ensuring Student Support Forms are reviewed and
approved in advance
● Attend IEP meetings and review sessions as required
● Participate in staffing interviews for new Resource teachers
● Onboard new Resource teachers before the school year begins
Qualifications & Skills
Required
● Bachelor’s degree in Education, Special Education, Psychology or related field (Master’s preferred)
● Experience in special education, student support services or academic intervention
● Knowledge of assistive technology tools and UDL principles
● Expertise in creation and implementation of IEPs and Growth Plans, reviewing psychoeducational assessments and program accommodations
● Excellent communication, collaboration and problem-solving skills
● Well-organized and detail-oriented
● Familiarity with Hebrew language instruction and its role in Jewish Studies education (Hebrew proficiency is considered an asset.)
Preferred
● Experience in social-emotional learning (SEL) and behavioural intervention.
● Understanding of Responsive Classroom principles and their application in a dual-curriculum setting
● Understanding of second-language acquisition
● Experience learning extensions for students needing additional challenges
● Leadership and team management experience, particularly in overseeing Resource teachers
