We are seeking a Branch Principal who is a highly qualified and experienced educator. This is an opportunity for a dynamic administrator to work in collaboration with an experienced and talented administrative team to embrace and meet the challenges of 21st Century Jewish education.

Specific qualifications for the position include:

  • Principal’s Certificate or its equivalent certification
  • Prior teaching and educational administrative experience (JK- 8)
  • Skills and experience developing a strong and dedicated team of educators
  • Experience in staff supervision
  • Minimum 5 years experience as a successful day school administrator or director of curriculum development

Specific skills exemplified by the successful candidate will include:

  • Ability to be a visionary, a collaborative leader, and a community builder
  • Creative thinking and ability to develop and implement dynamic, innovative and transformational programs and curriculum

DIRECTOR OF GENERAL STUDIES

Beginning August 1, 2017

The Director of General Studies will support all educational and administrative aspects of the general studies department, and will play a critical role in shaping the department and the school. The successful candidate will be a person of vision, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and with the ability to work as a member of the school’s administrative team.

Specific qualifications for the position include:

  • Experience and proven expertise in educational methodology, curriculum design, teacher supervision and professional development
  • Advanced degree in Education, Educational Administration or Curriculum Development

Specific skills exemplified by the successful candidate will include:

  • Ability to think creatively and develop innovative programs for teacher development
  • Outstanding interpersonal and collaborative skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong management and organizational skills
  • Strong leadership skills

The following qualifications and skills will be assets:

  • Principal’s Certificate or equivalent certification
  • Experience as a Jewish day school administrator or director of curriculum development
  • Knowledge of the Ontario Ministry of Education curriculum and EQAO provincial assessments

VICE PRINCIPAL, HIMEL BRANCH

The Vice Principal, Himel will support the Branch Principal in all aspects of school administration, with specific emphasis on:

  • Supporting student learning needs and addressing student behaviour and discipline   
  • Overseeing special programs including before- and after-care, library, field trips, performances and celebrations, co-curricular programming

Requirements for the position include:

  • Ontario Teaching Certificate or its equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years experience as a successful classroom teacher
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work collaboratively with students, staff and parents
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of current best practices in education (e.g., differentiated instruction, 21st century skills, classroom technology applications, STEAM initiatives)

Preference will be given to candidates with:

  • Principal’s Certification
  • Advanced degree in education or related field
  • Experience in school administration
  • Experience in staff supervision and/or curriculum development
  • Knowledge of Hebrew
  • Knowledge of Jewish customs and traditions
