Sports @ Bialik

Extra-curricular sports have become an increasingly important component of the Elementary and Senior Divisions in recent years. We currently have twelve extra-curricular sports teams. The senior girls and boys basketball teams participate in the Jewish Day School League (JDSL) and compete against teams from other schools. We have a senior girls and a senior boys soccer and volleyball team that take part in the annual Inter-Jewish Day School Tournament, sponsored by the Community Hebrew Academy of Toronto. Bialik's junior and senior hockey teams are part of the Jewish Day School League. Our hockey season culminates in the annual Yitzhak Rabin Memorial Tournament in February. During the fall and spring, our junior and senior cross-country squad trains for a track meet organized by the Jewish Day Schools. We have recently added a junior co-ed baseball team and a junior co-ed basketball team. The two teams will participate in the JDSL.

Bialik also has a strong intramural sports program. Students from grade five to eight have the opportunity to participate in intramural house leagues, and each grade has their competition on a designated day during lunch recess. In the Senior Division, Houses compete against each other and accrue points towards the total for the year.

We take great pride in our sports programs, both extra-curricular and intramural. These programs, combined with our expanded outdoor play areas and our state-of-the-art gym facilities, provide a physical education program that is unmatched in the Jewish day school system in Toronto.

Teaching kids to count is fine, but teaching them what counts is best.
