Primary Vice Principal

Amy Platt

Shalom!

My job at Bialik is second to none!  I have the joy of seeing young children smile, laugh, learn and play all day.   The Primary program at Bialik is a special one.  The Kindergarten is housed in it’s own part of the building, surrounding the children with teachers and friends in a safe and protected environment.  A balance of experiential learning, traditional learning and play creates a dynamic program that considers the academic, physical, social and emotional development of all children.  The Jewish calendar and seasonal cycle infuse the learning with meaningful content that children connect with easily.

I also have the pleasure of watching the transition from Kindergarten to grade school.  It is wonderful to see the children adapt to a more formal school environment while maintaining the natural love of learning developed in Kindergarten.  The grade one program gives children their first experience at reading and writing in Hebrew.  The Hebrew oral language skills that are fostered in Chalav U’Dvash in Kindergarten, give the grade one children a wonderful foundation for learning a new language.  The exciting grade one program in both general and Jewish studies is filled with hands-on learning experiences that allow children the opportunity to use multiple intelligences daily.  It is my privilege to help teachers develop lessons that meet the needs of a wide spectrum of young learners.

Bialik’s commitment to teaching the whole child and its focus on academic excellence and Menschlechkeit matches my own teaching philosophy.   I believe that all children learn in different ways and it is the role of the teacher to creatively plan and teach for a variety of learning styles.  It is my pleasure to watch this happen at Bialik daily.  I look forward to meeting you and sharing my perspective of what makes Bialik an exceptional school and the right fit for your family.

Sincerely,
